A Mommy's Desire

I have a huge love for books. I love to read & always have. As an elementary school teacher, I have an special affinity for children's literature. It grabs my heart. I love the idea of sharing stories with my children. I love to read to my son...but I want to make sure what I read to him is quality, solid and character building literature. There are many, many children's books on the market now...and lots of them were written quickly, lack good content or grammar, and a solid storyline. Many books these days are filled with attitude, disrespect and dishonesty in such a way as it is looked upon as funny or even good. As a mom, I want my kids to know the truth and have it be reinforced in every aspect of their life....and it is my desire to make reading FUN for our children. Reading should be fun!

So, as I start this blog ~ you are welcome to join me as I review books from a teacher's perspective by providing reading levels, storyline, and questions for comprehension. I will also be writing from a mommy's perspective by providing a biblical framework with which to view and evaluate the book and character building conversation starters (in order to turn those attitudes or disrespect often found in books into learning opportunities for your children). Lastly, I will be providing some extensions/activities for you to do with your children after reading the book. I am so excited about starting this adventure for my children & I ~ I hope you and your children will enjoy and benefit from it as well!
